Alison
Ruggieri, the business Designer and Creator and Blake Johnson, head of Sales and Marketing started the company in 1998.
Alison has always been a creative soul. Jewelry happened to be where she found her niche.
She began making jewelry as a hobby. Then friends and strangers asked about the jewelry she wore
and wanted to pay her for her jewels! She decided to get a business license, etc. and began Designs by
Ali. The name of course came from her nickname, Ali. She loved to create jewelry, but
did not enjoy selling it to the public. That position was made for Blake, her sister. She
loves selling Alison’s wonderful artwork. So the summer of 2000, Alison and Blake became partners!
Since then we have sold to galleries and women’s boutiques stores all over the Southeast.
Each
piece of jewelry is combined with natural stones and metals. Alison, a self-taught artist, finds her inspiration
from what is in fashion, but mostly creations that she cultivates in her mind and is able to form into beautiful jewelry.
She enjoys using both sterling silver and brass. The stones in her designs range from semi-precious
stones, freshwater pearls, to crystals and cubic zirconia. It is always a feeling of pride for Alison and
Blake when she comes up with an amazing necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings. It is important to Ali
that her jewelry is something someone can enjoy now and 10 years down the road!
